Van Hallen guitarist and co-founder Eddie Van Halen has died at 65 on Tuesday morning after a long battle with throat cancer.
Legendary rock icon guitarist Eddie was diagnosed with the disease from 20 years and treated for tongue cancer. In 2002 it was declared that Eddie’s third of the tongue was removed in surgery. Van Halen were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 2007.
Heartbreaking news was confirmed by Eddie’s son Wolfgang Van Halen via social media and he states: “I can’t believe I have to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long arduous battle with cancer this morning.
He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss. I love you so much, Pop.”
