ZZ TOP Bassist DUSTY HILL Dead At 72

Legendary Joseph Michael “Dusty” Hill, the longtime (over half a century) bassist for the iconic rock band ZZ Top, has died. He was 72 years old.

No cause of death was revealed.

“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX, ” said a statement by the band’s guitarist Billy Gibbons and drummer Frank Beard.

“We, along with legions of ZZ TOP fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’ You will be missed greatly, amigo.”

Recently on July 21, Dusty Hill was forced to left their tour because of a hip issued and returned to Houston, as the band states on their official site.

ZZ Top (Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbons, and Frank Beard) was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Rest in peace legend. Our condolence to Hill’s family and loved ones.
